What Brain Check measures

Brain Check strings together five of our tests in a fixed order: Reaction Time (speed), Number Memory (memory), Stroop Test (focus), Mental Math (math) and Left≠Right (coordination). Each runs at a fixed difficulty so today’s numbers can be compared with next month’s.

For Reaction Time and Number Memory, where a public reference exists, we show a coarse band (for example, “Top 20–30% of players”) instead of an exact rank. The Stroop Test, Mental Math and Left≠Right have no public reference, so you see your own baseline; peer comparison may come later.

How to get a fair result

Use the same phone each time, sit somewhere quiet, and take it when you feel alert, not right before bed. Phones add a little touch and screen delay, which is why the reaction-time band already allows for it. Left≠Right plays best with your phone turned sideways.
