BrainSquat iOS app privacy policy
Effective October 6, 2026
BrainSquat is built so that your records never leave your iPhone. To fix problems and improve the app, it sends usage statistics and crash reports to Google Firebase, which you can turn off in Settings. This policy explains both.
Who is responsible
BrainSquat is operated by Jimmy Jung (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy and is the privacy officer. Contact: studiojinnox@gmail.com
What the app keeps on your iPhone
BrainSquat saves the following only on your iPhone:
- game records: scores, personal bests, play history and training levels
- daily workouts, Brain Check results and your streak
- vocabulary review progress
- settings such as language, sound, haptics, large text, motion, colors, the reminder time and, if you choose one, an age group
We never receive this data. The app has no accounts and doesn’t send these records anywhere. Apart from the usage statistics and crash reports below, something leaves the app only when you do it yourself: tapping a link, writing an email or sharing a result card or a backup code.
If you back up your iPhone with iCloud or a computer, iOS may include this data in that backup. Apple handles those backups under its own terms.
Usage statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
To see which games are played and to find and fix crashes, the app uses two Google services, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Google processes this data for us as our service provider.
- Usage statistics: app opens and time in the app; which game you start and finish, in which mode (test or training) and where (a game page, the daily workout or Brain Check); whether a run counted and whether it was a personal best; and finishing the daily workout. Firebase adds a random ID the app creates on this iPhone, the app and iOS versions, the iPhone model, the language, and the country or region estimated from your IP address (Google Analytics doesn’t store the IP address itself).
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, where in the app’s code it happened, the app and iOS versions, the iPhone model, free memory and storage, the time, and the same kind of random ID.
We never send your name, email, scores, game records, backup codes, age group or advertising identifier (IDFA). This data isn’t used for ads or to track you across other companies’ apps and services, and we don’t sell it.
Google stores the data on its servers in the United States and other countries. Usage statistics are kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days, then deleted automatically. See Firebase privacy information and Google’s privacy policy.
Turning it off: Settings › Your data › Share usage and crash reports. When it’s off, the app sends nothing from then on, and every feature still works. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the switch starts off, and data is sent only if you turn it on.
What we don’t do
- no sign-up or account
- no ads and no tracking
- no third-party code (SDKs) that collects data, other than Google Firebase above
- no access to your contacts, location, camera or microphone
- no reading of your photos: when you tap Save image, the app only adds that one image to your photo library, with add-only access that iOS asks you about first
If any of this ever changes, we will update this policy before the change.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications that iOS schedules and shows on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us. You can turn them off in the app’s Settings or in iOS Settings.
Backup codes
A backup code contains all of the records above. It is made on your iPhone and exists only where you put it, for example when you copy or share it. We can’t see it and can’t restore your records for you, so keep it somewhere safe and don’t give it to others.
Deleting your data
Deleting BrainSquat from your iPhone deletes everything the app saved. Restoring a backup code replaces the records on your iPhone with the ones in the code.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. When you write from the app, the draft also includes the app version, the iOS version and your iPhone model; you can delete them before sending. We use this only to reply and to fix problems.
Our inbox is Gmail, provided by Google LLC in the United States, so Google stores your email on its servers in the United States and other countries. We keep emails until your question is resolved, then for up to one year in case you follow up, and then delete them. If you don’t email us, nothing is sent to Gmail. Email is our only contact channel for now, though, so we can’t answer a question without it. See Google’s privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you (your emails), or to stop using it. Email studiojinnox@gmail.com from the address you used with us. There is no fee. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to data portability, to object, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Usage statistics and crash reports are linked only to a random ID, not to you, so we can’t look up which data is yours. You can stop them at any time in Settings. Deleting the app and installing it again starts a new ID; data under the old one is deleted when its retention period ends.
The records on your iPhone are yours to view, back up and delete at any time, without asking us.
Children
BrainSquat has no accounts and never asks for your age; the optional age group stays on your iPhone. Usage statistics and crash reports contain nothing that identifies a child, and a parent can turn them off in Settings. Minors should get a parent’s or guardian’s consent before emailing us. If you think a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Records aren’t stored on any server of ours. Usage statistics and crash reports travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and only the operator’s account can open them in the Firebase console. We keep the personal information we do hold (the emails you send us) to a minimum, and only the operator can access it.
Changes to this policy
We post every change on this page with a new date. For significant changes, we post the new version at least 7 days before it takes effect.
